Grungedown No. 7

NUMBER SEVEN:

Alice In Chains, We Die Young.

Grunge’s most metal band checks in with grunge’s most unruly and rambunctious tune. Not surprisingly, it was Alice‘s debut single. Alternating between cocksure ferocity and fearful warning, it’s fast, catchy, and a little bit scary.

Alice In Chains throughout a drug-addled history, grew from a Guns N’ Roses arena opener into perhaps one of the most versatile hard rock bands of all time. However, at one time, they were all 22 years old, shooting drugs, drinking gasoline, spitting in your face, and they wanted you to know it. The lasting impact is one of grunge’s shortest and most furious ditties.

Faster we run …. and we die young …

BY THE WAY … Chris Capuano, Brewers? No-hitter tonight. I’m just sayin’.

Anyone who loves both Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains has my vote. Sorry you missed the Bee Girl action, but if it makes you feel any better, I was hoping for Leash and didn’t get it. But no, I am actually not complaining, I am still basking in the afterglow of the show. Thanks for the link.

Your “Mister Faded Glory” title I JUST REALIZED is a shout out to Mother Love Bone. AMEN. I was playing that over and over in my head, “What is that FROM?!” Then I pictured the scene from Singles and it was all complete in my brain.
